In June, Munich’s Ludwigstraße went car-free for the Zamanand Festival, which centres on sustainability, diversity, climate and environmental protection, and how the city wants to use its public space. With around 1,500 contributors, the festival draws an average of 200,000 visitors per weekend. TUfast Eco was part of it, right at Odeonsplatz in the shadow of the Theatinerkirche.
At our stand, visitors got up close to our Guinness World Record car, which covered 2,573.79 km on a single charge, and learned about our next goal: the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge 2027, 3,021 km across the Australian outback from Darwin to Adelaide on solar power alone. Our team fielded questions on aerodynamics, lightweight composites and energy efficiency from engineers, families and a good number of very curious kids.
Zamanand gave us the chance to show what student engineering can contribute to sustainable mobility, in the middle of the city rather than behind workshop doors. Thank you to the organisers, our neighbours at the AHA Super Science Summer Club and RoboTUM, and everyone who stopped by.
