Mechanical
Develop complex surfaces and advanced vehicle geometries using generative design principles.
Advanced proficiency in CAD surface modeling (e.g., 3DExperience) and a understanding of complex surfacing required.
Shape the aerodynamic performance of our race car through advanced simulation and validation. As part of the aerodynamics team, you will work on CFD analysis in STAR-CCM+, perform wind tunnel testing for model validation, and refine surface geometry in 3DEXPERIENCE.
Design and optimize the vehicle’s structural components including underbody, shell, and solar deck. Tasks include layer optimization, integrating ribs, flanges, and cutouts for lights, camera, and solar mounting.
Responsible for designing simple components, mounts, and brackets. Requires basic CAD proficiency. Excellent entry-level opportunity for beginners.
Develop and refine all moving systems such as hinges, locks, and telescopic supports. Priorities are lightweight, adjustable designs with reliable operation and manufacturable mechanisms.
Works together with the Running Gear team to fully integrate wheels and other moving parts.
In charge of creating the kinematics, perform stability analysis to find the optimum kinematics parameters, Collaboration with other team members to ensure the design aligns with the overall project goals.
Responsible for the development of a new custom motor, including:
– Designing and Optimize a new cooling system
– Designing and performing structural simulations of the motor housing
– Testing the custom motor on a Testbench
Responsible for the development of steering, including:
– Design and simulate steering components for the “lux027” vehicle
– Calculation and layout of the steering for optimal performance and efficiency
– Selection of suitable materials and manufacturing techniques for steering components – Collaboration with other team members to ensure the design aligns with the overall project goals
Responsible for designing the Housings for all electronic components into the vehicle, including light housings, MPPT and MCU enclosures, and cable routing.
Proficiency in CAD required, and knowledge of EV electrical systems advantageous.

Electrical
Areas of work:
– Battery pack design (mechanical layout, cell arrangement, compression)
– Cell interconnects and wire bonding
– Integration with BMS and thermal management
– Support on simulation setup (FEA, thermal, electrical)
What we are looking for:
– Interest in battery pack design and hands-on hardware work
– Experience in CAD is a plus
– Battery chemistry knowledge and simulation experience are nice to haves too
Responsible for the overall battery pack architecture, including cell selection, mechanical layout, and safety systems. Optimize energy density, cooling, and serviceability. Collaboration with BMS and powertrain.
Develops both the hardware and software of the inverter system, responsible for driving the motor efficiently and safely. Work on power electronics, control algorithms and communcation interfaces with other systems.
Designs the hardware and control software for the vehicle’s power conversion and maximum power point tracking systems. Ensure efficient energy extraction from the power source and stable voltage regulation across varying loads.
Areas of work:
– Design of the Battery Management System (BMS)
– Schematic and PCB design for HV battery applications
– Cell monitoring, balancing, and protection circuitry
– Integration with the vehicle’s HV bus and CAN communication
What we are looking for:
– Experience with hardware/PCB design (Altium, KiCad, or similar)
– Experience working with HV systems (safety practices, isolation, protection)
– Interest in embedded systems and CAN bus is a plus
– Familiarity with battery monitoring ICs (ADBMS family) is appreciated
Areas of work:
– Firmware Programming for STM32 Microcontrollers
– Implementation of Communication Protocols (e.g., UART, SPI, CAN)
– System Development and Integration using FreeRTOS

– Experience in Embedded C/C++, ideally for STM32

Captures high-quality photos and videos of events, projects, or products. Responsible for framing, capturing, and storytelling through visual media, often editing content afterward.
Turns raw video or photo footage into polished content for social media, presentations, or campaigns. Handles cutting, transition, color correction, sound, and overall flow to create engaging visuals.
Creates animated 3D visuals for marketing campaigns, presentations, or social media. Uses software to bring models to life, adding motion, textures, and effects to enhance engagement.
Creates visual content for print and digital media, including posters, flyers, and social media graphics. Focuses on layout, typography, and color to convey messages actively.
Designs and maintains our online presence, ensuring user-friendly, and functional design. Helps in development of internal applications.

Design and Development of a collapsible steering shaft for a solar race car: Design and optimize a 3D printed collapsible steering shaft by including design restrictions from 3D printing, and also perform a destructive validation of the collapsible steering shaft
Material Characterization and Testing of Brake Discs: Examine the mechanical and thermal properties of different materials for the brake disks through literature review and experimental testing, aiming to reduce weight, improve braking performance, wear resistant
Motor Development: Optimize and design an electric motor for a solar race car
Seat ergonomics: Design and prototype lightweight seat while improving driver comfort and safety. From carbon fiber and 3D printed mesh.
Aero Fin (morphing): Develop and protype mechanism for morphing Aero Fin.

The TUfast Eco Team is always looking for motivated members. We would like to invite our fellow students to be part of the team. In addition to the ability to work in a team, you will be able to acquire specialist knowledge and obtain practical experience, which will deepen and expand your theoretical knowledge. Furthermore, due to our partnerships with numerous companies, there would be many opportunities for internships, project studies or student research projects for the active members.

We expect you to...
- Be part of the team for the whole season (until August 2027). It would be great if you can join the competition in Australia (August 2027, >4 weeks, during main exam phase).
- Bring experience for mechanical and electrical tasks (i.e. basics of CAD or circuit design), if you want to be part of the technical development. We also have interesting positions in Management, Marketing and Logistics!
- Be ready to work at least 15 hours per week on the project. This includes attending at least two production shifts per week during production (starting July 2026). We expect every member to attend team and subteam meetings as well as workdays (Saturday every 2nd week).
- Integrate yourself in the team and have loads of fun!
